Don’t Wait, Start Now!

I don’t know about you, but 2014 has totally flown by. I remember NYE of 2013, and now the year is almost done. I honestly don’t know where the tine has gone! As we start to think about what we have accomplished or didn’t accomplish in 2014, it’s easy to beat ourselves up for the things that we didn’t do. Many times our brains will go to the New Year’s resolutions that we abandoned in the first quarter of the New Year. It’s easy for us to say, I will get it right in 2015. Well, I want to tell you three things:

  1. Forgive yourself for whatever you didn’t get done in 2014.
  2. List out the things that you did accomplish, and celebrate those accomplishments.
  3. If there is a gap between what you accomplished and what you didn’t, then don’t wait another month to start working.

The beauty in waking up every single day is that each day you have another opportunity to hit the reset button. If yesterday wasn’t a good day, then guess what? Today you got a do-over. The question becomes, “What are you doing with this opportunity?”

One of the first steps to taking advantage of your new opportunity (i.e. new day) is to start with gratitude. Gratitude is so important because it forces you to think about the things that you have instead of the things that you don’t have. Also, being grateful signals that you appreciate what you have, and it positions you to have more. After you have expressed gratitude, then you can set your intention. This means to identify your goals and what you want to accomplish. When you express your desires and set goals, then you start to generate ideas on how you can accomplish those goals. Once you get the ideas, you can start to take action, and once you take action you begin to attract the resources that you need to succeed. That’s the fun part, because that is when you really start to see the change.

If your goals are tied to your deepest desires of life fulfillment, do you really want to wait another month to start work? If the answer is no, then you have the power to start now. If you make a mistake, then hit the reset button and keep going. The New Year is an easy time to begin again, but I don’t want you to believe that it’s the only time where you can begin again. You can start over any day or time that you choose to.

Let me know what you decide to do with your new day and new opportunity.
