How to Attract All The Joy That You Can Stand

Debrena frontal headshotI have been a fan of Debrena’s since the early 2000’s. Her books All The Joy You Can Stand and Sacred Pampering Principles are MY EVERYTHING. (I highly recommend buying them.) These are the books that I recommend to my coaching clients and any sistergirl in need of encouragement, direction, and food for the soul.

When the opportunity to interview a mentor-in-my-head surfaced, I pounced on it. I hope you enjoy this interview as much as I did.

What do you do and why is it important?

I am an Agent of Transformation, a “Catalyst for Greatness,” and a Relationships Revolutionary, using my speaking, coaching, designing and leading transformational courses, seminars, retreats and programs; and writing best-selling transformational books, as my platforms. My personal mission to is help women, especially, create and live the lives they deeply desire and deserve – lives of profound joy, prosperity, health, good lovin,’ deep connection, deep satisfaction, fun, passion, and the full contribution of our gifts and talents. My expertise is in exposing and challenging limiting beliefs we hold related to life, love, mind, body, spirit, entrepreneurship, feminine leadership, feminine power, sacred self-care, love relationships, marriage, and Greatness. I’ve developed powerful ways to heal and transform these beliefs that equal new levels of freedom, self-expression, and being our best and most powerful selves, in EVERY area of our lives.

Teaching women to create and live JUICY lives is my primary intention.

What advice would you give to your 20 year-old self?

Recognize that my body is a divine temple, and to treat it as such, being highly aware of what enters my “gates” through what I watch, listen to, say, do, and eat. This also means wisely managing my energy, including sexual energy, and recognizing that sex is not casual by its nature and its design.

What are three things that you know for sure?

Love is the most powerful force in the Universe.

We are designed and intended to thrive, not just survive; and

Joy is our natural, inherent state of being and part of our divine design.

What is the best advice (financial, emotional, spiritual, health-related) that you have ever received? Why did that piece of wisdom resonate with you so much?

You are the only you in this world, past present and future. Be the best you, you can be. There are no copies or duplicates.

What are you the most proud of as a woman, entrepreneur, scholar, or anything in between?

I’m most proud of crafting, “architecting,” and living a life that is juicy, joyous, deeply rewarding and gratifying, filled with rich friendships, a fabulous family, amazing husband, and amazing daughters; an amazing business; a life in which I am able to generate income with my gifts, talents, skills and abilities; and doing life-changing and difference-making work with others that reflects my “highest passions” and what makes my heart sing.

What is going on in your business/career that EVERYONE should know about now? Is there a product or services that we should ALL know about?

My newest book (#3), The Love Lies, was just released nationally a few months ago, and it is ushering in a Relationships Revolution. I am so excited about the response to it. The Love Lies introduces a NEW love relationship paradigm, one that frees women from cycles of frustration and disappointment, and enables us, finally, to truly experience on-going deep satisfaction, connection and fulfillment.

What makes you a DreamGirl?

I am blessed to be able to live my dream, right now, every day. not just envision it, not hope about it, not think wistfully about it or wish about it. My ideal life is right now. I’m in it. I’m LIVING MY DREAMBOARD. It is glorious (not perfect), but glorious!! I’m doing what I love in a life I’ve intentionally crafted for myself, a life that deeply satisfies my soul.

What rituals, if any, do you do on a daily, monthly, or yearly to keep you focused, positive, or centered?

I start each morning – before checking emails, before answering a phone call – with daily prayer and meditation, and writing gratitudes, for 30 minutes. I also give myself Fridays off. Fridays are my “play day.”

How do you handle setbacks? What skills, support, or personality trait do you rely on the most to help you overcome adversity?

Perspective. I keep things in perspective, and don’t let the setback or the disappointment completely overtake me. I have to remember that no matter how serious or challenging something may be in my life, there is ALWAYS someone dealing with something MUCH more serious and challenging. I am also BIG on deep reflection – what was there for me to learn? Next time, what might I do differently? What did I miss or underestimate? What different choice might have led to a different outcome? And if forgiveness work is necessary to help me “clear” the setback from my system (forgiveness of self or of someone else), then I do it. I don’t want to be hindered by setbacks but made wiser and better from them. So far so good!
