Here is the Formula for Achieving Success and Happiness in Your 20s, 30s, and 40s
There are so many things that were thought to be impossible until someone did them. Humans would never visit the stars, then Yuri Gagarin went to space in 1961 and Neil Armstrong walked on the moon in 1969. Just this past September, Diana Nyad was the first person to swim from Cuba to Florida without a shark cage. It took five tries for the 64 year old to accomplish her goal and she did it in just under 54 hours. Even more recently, a team out of Canada won a prize that lay unclaimed for 33 years for the first human powered helicopter. Wow. Now why am I talking about space, swimming and flying on a finance blog?

Well, any great feat or dream requires dedication, learning from failure, knowledge and willpower to accomplish. You have a financial dream and financial goals. Many of us want to reach financial success, it looks and feels a little different for each of us. Maybe you’re struggling to pay bills and want to stop living paycheck to paycheck. Maybe you’re doing ok paying bills, but you have no savings, no emergency fund no retirement savings etc and want to accumulate savings. Or perhaps you have savings, but need to really start building wealth and want to increase your net worth. We all have goals. We also all have obstacles that are in the way of those goals. Obstacles like lay-offs, debt and lack of knowledge. How to surpass obstacles? A key element is your knowledge and another is willpower. Seek the knowledge you need to achieve your goals. If the obstacle in your way is debt then find out as much as you can about paying down debt and how credit works (here are past article on paying down student loans and raising your credit score). Take the information and implement it.

Knowledge does nothing for you if you don’t use it. To stay motivated remember to reward yourself. Have a saving fund for rewards that will keep you motivated. What obstacles have you faced while chasing your financial dream? What have you done to overcome your obstacles?

If this posts inspires you to get your finances in order, don’t let the work stop here.  Consider enrolling in one of my online courses. I have one on budgeting and one on saving.
