A few weeks back, I wrote about not waiting until you’ve “found your purpose” to begin living your best life. Some of us are too busy trying to find the meaning of life or figuring out how to “find our purpose” to actually be engaged in living our best lives. Don’t get me wrong, I do believe life should be lived with purpose. But I also believe that that purpose is not as elusive as it can often be made out to be. Everyday is an opportunity to get up and lead a purposeful life. And it may not be as difficult as you may think. In fact, you might be very close to having that sense of existential fulfillment so many of us are yearning for. I challenge you to take a look at the following list of 7 ways to tell if you’re living your best life. If you fall short in any area, incorporate that key point into your life right away. I am confident that you will immediately notice a difference in how much satisfaction you draw from the day to day.
When you consider every day a gift and an opportunity to experience and appreciate all that life has to offer, you are on the right path. Every small thing that happens in your life is a part of a larger story. When you can embrace all of your life experiences as part of your unique story; big or small, good or bad, that is a good thing.
So many of us wake up dreading the day that lies ahead – for a multitude of reasons. If you cannot wake up ready to face the day with a positive attitude, immediately tackle those things that cause you the most worry and anxiety. When you get to a place where you look forward to the day ahead, you know you are living a full, rewarding life.
If you have an overall sense of the things in your life being in balance and harmonious, you will feel at peace. This doesn’t necessary mean that everything is going well. We will all face times of hardship or struggle. But if you are living life with meaning, purpose and direction, you will enjoy the absence of anxiety and be at peace.
Consider yourself blessed if you actively realize that who you are and what you do are important. Similarly, how you spend your time and energy are extremely important. When you make time for what truly matters in your life, you will a strengthened connectedness in your relationships and activities.
When you realize that life is a series of incidents that make up the larger sum total of your life, you are ready to start living a goal and result-oriented life. When you live a life with purpose, you realize that each small step in the right direction will lead you closer to your ultimate destination.
If you are fortunate enough to wake up everyday and do something you are passionate about, then you are already fulfilling a large component of living your best life. And this goes beyond a rewarding career choice or spending time with loved ones. Pursue all of your passions, explore all of the things that bring you joy. This is one of the easiest ways to introduce more joy and fulfillment into your life.
When you strive to make everything that is a part of the makeup of your environment (home, relationships, diet, activities, entertainment, etc.) a positive contributing force, you will have little room for negativity. You know you are practicing to live your best life when you can look around you externally and only see forces for good.
